SATURDAY 18 JULY – CONCERT

Paesaggio Argentino DuoScoppa_Concerto

PAESAGGIO ARGENTINO – Duo Scoppa

Paola Scoppa, vocals
Fernando Mazza, guitar
Produced by Officine della Cultura

A musical journey through Argentina, told through traditional dances, landscapes and distinctive rhythms of a culturally rich land that is  the second largest country in Latin America. A musical journey, led by two outstanding  performers, where a soaring voice interwines with the rich harmonies of the strings in a varied programme of traditional Argentine folk songs.

The rhythms of the chacarera, the zamba and the rasguido doble will guide  the audience through Argentine landscapes: from the vast plains of the Pampas to the peaks of the Andes, following the rivers of the Litoral to the Río de la Plata, where the spirit of tango was born. The programme features celebrated works from the Argentine popular repertoire by Ariel Ramírez, Carlos Gardel, César Isella and other leading figures of Argentine music.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1982, Paola Scoppa began studying singing and choral conducting through private tuition at the age of sixteen. From 2003 to 2008, she studied vocal pedagogy at the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Morón, Buenos Aires. In Argentina, she worked as a children’s choir director and primary school music teacher, while also leading community singing courses and workshops for both children and adults. Alongside her teaching career, she performed with several Argentine folk music ensembles. In 2016, she moved to Italy, where she joined the Orchestra Multietnica di Arezzo later that year.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1977, Fernando Mazza graduated as a chemical technician before going on to study guitar pedagogy at the Alberto Ginastera Conservatory. During this time, he taught guitar both privately and at music schools. His musical training led him to develop a deep interest in the craft of guitar making, and after several years of research, he built his first instrument in 2003, beginning his career as a luthier. In 2016, he moved to Italy, where he continues to practise his craft.
